A while back I picked up various red sloped bricks from a
pick-a-brick bin, planning to make some sort of roof with them.
Eventually I got around to making this little depot for my train
layout. It could have been made a bit larger, but I think it is
kind of cute as it is. Perhaps sometime I'll have to make a
platform to go with it.
The front! Using the grill piece as the top of the ticket
counter was inspired by somebody else's subway scene; unfortunately,
I have no idea now where it was that I saw it. I think it looks
pretty nice though.
A three-quarters shot showing off the pretty
corner. Please, no comments on the fact that the roof looks like it
belongs on a Pizza Hut.
Three-quarters from the other direction
(one-quarter?). "Oakington" is my name of a mythical Chicago
suburb. I think every other word combination involving "Oak" is
represented in the suburbs; why not this one?
Inside. The ticket on the counter (and the one
outside) came in one of my "spring cleaning" tubs. Yay random pieces!
Another shot of the back. I could have made the
walls a stud thinner, but I kind of like the thick design. It gives
it more of a "cute" feel. It also makes it a rather sturdy little
building.
